Title - Creating Vibrant Communities in Winnipeg

Strong neighbourhoods are the cornerstones of a healthy city. Our homes, local gathering places, area businesses, together with supportive and accessible public services and facilities are central to community life. Quality services, citizen participation and a collaborative, multi-sector approach are very important to community development that meets the unique and changing needs of its residents.

Speak Up Winnipeg! What does a healthy neighbourhood mean to you?

It is acknowledged that poverty is a key hurdle in achieving a desired state in which all Winnipeggers benefit from growth and change.  The City will help reduce poverty through a number of supportive actions within its mandate. These include Aboriginal Youth Strategy Initiatives, a Newcomer Welcome Package, a Community Indicator System with an initial focus on poverty and income security, a targeted approach to service delivery through Neighbourhood Integrated Service Teams, and a City of Winnipeg Recreation Fee Assistance Program.

While we continue to work as a community to complete OurWinnipeg, the City will work with partners to start taking action right away...
