Secondary Suites

The City of Winnipeg hosted two public open houses to seek your input on detached secondary suites:

• Wednesday, February 22, 2012, 2:00 – 5:00 pm, and 6:00 – 9:00 pm,
  Carol Shields Auditorium in the Millennium Library
  
• Thursday, February 23, 2012, 2:00 – 5:00 pm, and 6:00 – 9:00 pm,
  Carol Shields Auditorium in the Millennium Library

Information on the City of Winnipeg approval process for secondary suites will be shared here as it becomes available.

What are Secondary Suites?

• A Secondary Suite is a second housing unit added to a single lot. It can either be attached or detached from the existing house/dwelling. In either case, the secondary suite is generally smaller in size than the main house /dwelling
• A Secondary Suite has its own entrance, kitchen, bathroom and living area.
• Other common names for Secondary Suites include carriage houses, coach houses, lane way houses, garage suites, garden suites and granny flats.
